CD Torrevieja has decided that Ramón Ordax Mayor, more commonly known as “Moncho” (Murcia 1981), who currently coaches the Juvenil A team, will take charge of coaching the first team of CD Torrevieja on an interim basis.

“The young coach, born in the city of Murcia yet adopted by Torrevieja, is enjoying a fantastic season with the Juvenil A team, who are currently classified in second place in their group. Today’s football predictions are very much backing the young coach to continue his excellent progress thus far.

Moncho is strongly supported and backed by the Club’s management team, who are all confident that he is more than qualified for this new challenge.  ”

Moncho will coach the first team alongside his own team of trainers, which is made up of Manolo Andreu, assistant coach, and Pablo Andreu, as tactical coach.

Meanwhile across the town Paloma and Maccan boot Monte’s relegation worries into touch!

In an exclusive interview sports reporter Andrew Atkinson spoke to CD Montesinos talisman Maccan and the 1st Regional Group 8 Valencia club’s new signing ex Torrevieja CF star Roberto Paloma.

CD Montesinos are hovering amongst the relegation zone as they take a Christmas and new year break in the 1st Regional Group 8 Valencia – but the drop out of the league in 2019 is not on the agenda in the dressing room.

“We will carry on working hard in 2019. We have the confidence and players to finish in mid table,” new signing Roberto Paloma told me.

And Monte talisman and fans favourite Maccan is also in the same frame of mind when it comes to talk about the dreaded drop out of the 1st Regional.

“It’s always worrying when there is talk of relegation, but we have good players in the dressing room,” Maccan told me.

Montesinos have just 15 points going into the festive break, with the next fixture against CD Altet on January 13, on the back of a 2-2 draw against Callosa on December 23.

Maccan added: “We needed the three points against Callosa, but we will rest over the Christmas period and return fresh.

“We have lots of points to play for. It’s upsetting to be near the bottom half of the table – but we are not going down”, said Maccan.

With 15 of 30 league games played, CD Montesinos, in their second season of the 1st Regional after gaining promotion under former manager Carlos Perez, the club are set to add additional new signings to the squad in the new year.

Former Torrevieja CF player Paloma, who had an excellent debut in the draw against Callosa, said: “I was happy with my debut performance, but not with the result.

“Having trailed 1-0, we then lead 2-1 and thereafter missed a penalty, and Callosa got back into the game. But that’s football.”

Paloma revealed: “I joined CD Montesinos after talking to striker Vazquinho. It was after those talks that I decided to join the club.”

Paloma said: “I have had a great welcome to the club by the players – I know most of the faces in the dressing room.

“But I also had a big welcome from the CD Montesinos fans, which I fully appreciate, on my debut.

“My message to the fans is that the team will strive to carry on with the hard work going into the second half of the season.”
