Following numerous complaints by local residents, the Local Police in Rojales have acquired vehicle speed detecting equipment from the DGT in order to try to control vehicles who drive at excessive speed through the municipality.

The Chief of Police, IƱaki Esparza, says that there are at least 10 areas in the municipality where neighbours have raised concerns about speeding vehicles, and it is the intention of the police to control these ā€œdangerous placesā€ by monitoring and sanctioning ā€œmotorists not respecting the speed limitsā€.

The equipment is installed within a patrol vehicle and is capable of constant monitoring of a road section, In addition, the police have also obtained a breathalyser and the associated equipment to enable them to issue fines by the roadside.
