The Guardia Civil has arrested two men, aged 40 and 59, for allegedly committing a series of thefts. The suspects were caught stealing gourmet products from a local supermarket, with the stolen goods valued at more than €1,700.
Quick Response After Suspicious Activity Detected
On the morning of February 26, 2025, officers from the Guardia Civil’s Investigation Unit in Calpe noticed a man acting suspiciously inside a parked vehicle outside a supermarket. They discreetly monitored the situation. Minutes later, another individual exited the store carrying a backpack filled with products, which he quickly placed in the car’s trunk.
The officers immediately intervened, identifying both men and searching the vehicle. Inside, they discovered multiple bags containing high-end gourmet products, including premium seafood preserves, Iberian delicacies, and select cuts of meat. When the suspects failed to provide proof of purchase, officers confirmed with the supermarket that the items had been stolen without payment.
Criminal Background and Court Proceedings
The arrested men, both Romanian nationals with prior offenses in other provinces, were brought before the Denia Court of Instruction on February 27, 2025. They were released with precautionary measures.
All stolen goods, valued at over €1,700, were recovered and donated to a charitable organization for distribution.
