- The suspect set fire to a semi-trailer, a mobile home, and a car, rendering them unusable.
- The total damage from the three arson incidents exceeds €50,000.
Murcia, April 29, 2025 – The Civil Guard of the Murcia Region has carried out operation ‘Lecai’, an investigation launched to uncover the intentional arson of three vehicles in Torre Pacheco, which has resulted in the identification, location, and arrest of the suspected perpetrator.
The incidents occurred in February at an industrial area in Torre Pacheco, where a large-tonnage refrigerated semi-trailer, a mobile home trailer, and a car were set on fire while parked.
Upon detecting the fire, several fire brigades and Civil Guard patrols responded to the scene, initially working to prevent the fire from spreading. Despite the intensity of the flames, particularly from the refrigerated semi-trailer, which was completely destroyed, the fire was eventually extinguished.
Civil Guard specialists in Citizen Security Prevention conducted a thorough technical inspection of the fire site and gathered enough evidence to confirm that the fires were intentionally set. The estimated damage to the three vehicles exceeds €50,000.
The evidence gathered at the scene and further investigations led the authorities to identify the person suspected of being responsible for the arson.
The investigation revealed that the suspected individual is a repeat offender, with a history of similar crimes, including previous arrests for arson and arson-related damage.
After gathering all necessary evidence, the Civil Guard set up a search operation, leading to the suspect’s location and arrest on charges of criminal damage by arson.
To date, three arson incidents have been resolved as part of the operation, although investigators have not ruled out the possibility of the suspect’s involvement in other similar crimes.
