This weekend in Torrevieja promises to be full of powerful emotions and top-tier performances with three major premieres: La Pasión, a moving theatrical drama depicting the final hours of Christ; Remember Queen, a tribute concert to the legendary British rock band that has completely sold out; and La Tabernera del Puerto, a stirring zarzuela that combines romance and smuggling in a seaside Spanish town.
The weekend kicks off on Saturday, April 5, at 8:30 p.m. at the Municipal Theatre with La Pasión, presented by the Getsemaní theatre group under the direction of Matías Antón.
This powerful production invites audiences to relive one of the most significant stories in human history through a poignant and immersive portrayal of the final hours of Christ’s life. With meticulous staging, period costumes, and a solemn atmosphere, the play creates an experience of deep reflection, faith, and redemption.
Known for their dramatic excellence, Getsemaní has crafted a faithful and emotionally resonant script that brings the essence of Holy Week to the stage in a truly unforgettable way.

That same evening, the international show Remember Queen will electrify the Torrevieja International Auditorium.
Already sold out, the show faithfully recreates Queen’s iconic 1986 tour, delivering a nostalgic journey through the band’s greatest hits, including Bohemian Rhapsody, We Are the Champions, Radio Ga Ga, and A Kind of Magic.
With ten costume changes, an identical lineup to the original band, and exceptional stage production, Remember Queen is more than just a tribute—it’s a full-scale concert experience that has captivated over 500,000 fans worldwide.
Torrevieja’s audience has embraced the show with overwhelming enthusiasm, guaranteeing a packed auditorium and a night to remember.
On Sunday, April 6, at 7:00 p.m., the spotlight returns to the Municipal Theatre for La Tabernera del Puerto, a classic Spanish zarzuela produced by the Compañía Lírica Alicantina.
Set in the fictional northern port city of Cantabreda, this musical tale intertwines love, betrayal, and smuggling. The story centers around Marola and her father Juan de Eguía, who harbor a dark secret.
While Marola’s beauty has captured the hearts of the local sailors, no one suspects the true nature of her relationship with Juan—who is not only her father but also a smuggler using her allure to further his illegal trade.
The plot thickens when Juan enlists a young sailor, Leandro, to retrieve a hidden drug shipment, offering Marola’s hand in marriage as a reward.
A fierce storm at sea puts everything in jeopardy, and when they are rescued, the truth finally surfaces in a dramatic finale where love and justice triumph. With an emotionally rich score and a captivating storyline, La Tabernera del Puerto promises a night of music and drama that zarzuela enthusiasts won’t want to miss.
Tickets are available online and at the theatre box office.
In addition to these major events, the week also began with two special performances of Conciertos Escolares, a musical outreach program organized by the local Conservatory of Music that brought together 1,200 schoolchildren, offering them a first-hand experience of live classical music.
Simultaneously, the Educational Orientation Fair welcomed over 20 local schools across three days, where students had the chance to explore future academic paths, from university degrees and vocational training to civil service and law enforcement careers.
Torrevieja is buzzing with culture, music, and learning this week—don’t miss out on the action.
