The Valencian Agency for Security and Emergency Response (AVSRE) has allocated 360,000 euros to improve the resources of the civil protection volunteer groups and associations in the Valencian Community.

The Official Publication of the Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV) has published the award that will provide 300,000 euros for the acquisition of material and equipment and 60,000 euros for insurance policies for volunteer staff.

The maximum amount of each subsidy awarded will be 5,500 euros for equipment for associations and groups and 600 euros for the insurance policies of volunteer Civil Protection personnel.

The aid is intended for municipalities that have a Civil Protection volunteer group and for associations or collaborating entities that are registered in the Registry of Civil Protection Volunteer Services of the Valencian Community.

The regional secretary for Security and Emergencies, José María Ángel, has said “the aid is particularly important, as it serves to improve the means of staff who, despite being volunteers, play a fundamental role in responding to emergencies”.

The Valencian Community has 160 groups and associations registered in the Registry of Civil Protection Volunteer Services, which have been able to access one or both lines of aid.

The province with the most groups and associations is Valencia, with 89, followed by Alicante, with 60, and Castellón with 11.
