Orihuela Council’s Infrastructure Department has continued maintenance, repair and improvement work throughout August, with municipal teams operating across the city, surrounding villages and Orihuela Costa.

The programme forms part of the council’s routine upkeep of roads, pavements, safety installations, parks and street furniture.

Recent work has included replacing safety fencing in Arneva and repairing pavements in the Sagrado Corazón neighbourhood, close to the Hurchillo road, to improve conditions for pedestrians.

In La Murada, workers painted and restored the perimeter fencing around Los Rocamora Park as part of regular maintenance carried out in public areas.

Repairs and improvements have also been completed on several roads in Virgen del Camino, focusing on locations requiring urgent attention.

Municipal teams additionally replaced electrical cabling stolen from public infrastructure, restoring the affected installations and repairing damage caused by the theft.

Infrastructure councillor Víctor Valverde said council teams had continued working across the municipality throughout the summer, responding to smaller problems that remained essential to the safety and condition of public spaces.

“In a municipality as geographically extensive as Orihuela, it is important to maintain continuous activity in the city, the outlying villages and on the coast,” he said.

Valverde acknowledged that many of the individual jobs might appear minor but stressed that they directly affected residents’ safety, accessibility and daily lives.

The Infrastructure Department said routine repairs and maintenance would continue alongside the larger construction projects currently being carried out across the municipality.
