Smiling Jack’s Golf Society enjoyed another excellent—and extremely hot—day at the impressive New Sierra Golf Resort.
The temperature was high from the start and continued to climb throughout the round. Andy claimed to have lost a stone in sweat, while Bernard became so fond of the local scenery that he managed to hit three trees on the same hole!
Several of our new members produced some excellent golf, but the star of the day was Les Christie, who mastered both the course and the heat to claim victory.
Our thanks go to everyone at New Sierra Golf for looking after us and presenting the course in very good condition. A special mention must go to Lisa behind the bar, who worked hard to replenish a group of very thirsty golfers.
We also thank Ger and everyone at YOLO for providing the food.

Les’s reward for his fine performance is a new Smiling Jack’s handicap of 11.
Will Dowling claimed the famous Dino Dick award, but his day improved considerably when he also won the raffle prize—a free round of golf with Smiling Jack’s, generously provided by Ger.
Our next outing will be at the lovely Altaona Golf Resort on Wednesday, September 2.
