Firefighters deployed a helicopter on Tuesday afternoon to help extinguish a fast-spreading reed fire in Catral, close to the motorway and a residential area.
The blaze broke out at around 3:17pm on Camino de la Arroba de Hornos, near several properties. No injuries were reported.
According to the Provincial Firefighters Consortium, the fire started in an area of reeds and spread rapidly, prompting the mobilisation of an aerial unit. Four crews from the Crevillent and Almoradí fire stations were also sent to the scene, along with two forest firefighting units.
Firefighters managed to stabilise the blaze at around 5:15pm, after which the helicopter was withdrawn. The fire was not declared under control until 6:30pm and was fully extinguished just over an hour later.
The affected area lies between the motorway and a residential zone of detached homes.
