The Guardia Civil has dismantled a criminal group of eight individuals allegedly responsible for more than 30 property-related crimes in Torre Pacheco, including violent robberies that left some victims seriously injured.
The operation, codenamed “Fauron,” was launched by the Civil Guard in the Region of Murcia after a noticeable rise in vehicle break-ins and thefts beginning in November last year. These incidents occurred both on public streets and in residential parking garages across the municipality.
Violent Incidents Involving Weapons
Alongside the surge in non-violent thefts, investigators identified three violent robberies in which bladed weapons were used. In two cases, victims sustained serious injuries from knife wounds. In a third incident, a woman assaulted a victim inside his car, forcibly stealing a gold chain and a ring.
Authorities also linked the group to additional burglaries in homes — in some cases while residents were present — as well as thefts targeting local businesses.
Disorganized but Experienced Offenders
According to investigators, the group operated with little formal structure, planning crimes spontaneously rather than following a strict hierarchy. Members reportedly gathered at a semi-abandoned farm in an isolated area, which also served as a temporary shelter for some of them.
Despite their lack of organization, most suspects had extensive criminal records and demonstrated caution in executing crimes. They reportedly conducted prior surveillance of target areas and used measures such as balaclavas and gloves to avoid identification.
Eight Arrests and 36 Alleged Crimes
Between February and now, authorities arrested eight suspects — seven men and one woman aged between 20 and 31. They are accused of committing a total of 36 property-related offenses, including:
- 18 vehicle break-ins
- Multiple burglaries in homes and businesses
- Several thefts
- Five cases of fraudulent use of bank cards
- Three counts of robbery with violence and intimidation
The investigation remains a significant operation in the Region of Murcia, highlighting both the scale of the criminal activity and the coordinated efforts of law enforcement to bring those responsible to justice.
