Torrevieja will mark Europe Day 2026 with a major cultural celebration on Saturday, 9 May, bringing together music, community spirit and international participation at the Auditorio Internacional de Torrevieja.
Organised by the City Council’s Department of Presidency in collaboration with the Department of International Residents, the gala aims to promote integration, coexistence and a shared sense of European identity among the city’s diverse population.
Free Entry and Strong Public Interest
Admission to the event is free, although tickets must be reserved in advance via the Cultura Torrevieja website. The council expects a strong turnout, with the gala firmly established as one of the most important social and cultural events in the municipality’s annual calendar.
To ensure accessibility, a free shuttle bus service will be provided, departing from Avenida Gregorio Marañón at 6:30pm and returning after the event.
Eurovision Tribute and Live Performances
The evening will feature a variety of musical performances, including a special Eurovision-themed show by local group Sette Voci, who will perform iconic songs from the famous contest. The group will also deliver the official segment of the ceremony, including the European Union anthem, one of the event’s most symbolic moments.
Headlining the night is Spanish singer María Isabel, best known for winning the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. She will perform some of her most popular hits, including her breakout song “Antes muerta que sencilla”, which became a generational anthem.
Petanque Tournament to Continue Celebrations
The celebrations will continue on Sunday, 10 May, with the traditional “Europe Day 2026” Petanque Tournament, taking place at Rocajuna between 9:45am and 4:00pm.
Teams representing several European countries — including Spain, the United Kingdom, Sweden, France and Belgium — will compete in a friendly but competitive atmosphere. Belgium, the defending champions from 2025, will be aiming to retain their title.
Promoting a Multicultural Europe
The Europe Day programme reflects Torrevieja’s strong international character and commitment to fostering unity through culture and sport. With residents from across the continent taking part, the event highlights the city’s role as a vibrant, multicultural hub on the Costa Blanca.
