The Rafal Town Council has unveiled its Master Plan for the comprehensive renovation of the municipal sports complex. Mayor Manuel Pineda, alongside councillors and the municipal architect, announced this ambitious project aimed at creating modern, safe, and functional sports facilities tailored to the needs of Rafal residents.
Key features of the plan include:
A 200-meter athletics track
A skate park
Tennis and padel courts
Four caliche courts
A children’s playground
A youth leisure area
A drinking water fountain
The total estimated cost is around one million euros, to be funded through various grants.
The first phase, soon to be tendered, will focus on land preparation, track surface paving, installation of the caliche courts, playground, and water fountain. This phase is supported by €198,650 in funding from Alicante’s Plan Planifica program.
The playground and fountain were specifically requested by local youth through the Children and Youth Council, highlighting the community’s involvement in the project.
Mayor Pineda emphasized that this plan represents a commitment to sports, health, and leisure, aiming to provide high-quality, accessible facilities and strengthen community well-being and social cohesion.
