After our visit to Las Pinaillas the previous 2 days, just 24 members signed up for a rare visit to the Mar Menor. The weather forecast didn’t look good but by the time we turned onto the back 9 the black clouds had disappeared and the temperature rose to the mid 20’s and this reflected in the scores.
The course was in excellent condition except that the greens were a little slow after the recent maintenance; this actually suited some members while the lower handicappers struggled a little.
Congratulations to new member, Spencer Bayley scoring 35 points of 9 on his first game with us and also his visit game a Mar Menor. The 2’s pot contained €50 and with the tricky greens it was expected that this might get rolled over to next week’s visit to Altorreal, alas it was not to be, Derek Sullivan made a 2 on the 8th and Arne Kilnes on the 2nd, albeit a chip-in from some distance but they all count as a 2!
Results; N.T.P.’s hole 2 T. Roed, hole, 8 D. Sullivan, hole 14 S. Bayley, hole 17 L. Holmberg . Silver cat: 3rd P. O’Dowd 34, 2nd A. Goslan 34 on L/H L. 1st Holmberg 40 and a very nice cut.
It must be noted that the Captain was still recovering from his “hangover” when he made an error with the recording of the results, it appears that when he is told 32 points it sounds like 34 points! Gold cat: 3rd S. Bayley 35, 2nd D. Sullivan 36, 1st O. Rong 37.
