The Guardia Civil has solved the alleged intentional homicide of a resident of Fortuna following the launch of Operation “Fuente Blanca”.in April.

The operation has led to the identification, location and arrest of the alleged perpetrator. The suspect’s partner has also been arrested for her alleged involvement in a previous robbery with violence and intimidation suffered by the victim at his home late last year.

According to investigators, the most likely motive for the killing is linked to that earlier robbery. The victim had reported the incident to the Guardia Civil, stating that he believed the attacker was an acquaintance and neighbour from the area whom he had recognised during the assault.

The investigation began at the end of April, after several residents raised the alarm when they had not heard from the victim for several days. Guardia Civil patrols were deployed to check on the situation. At the man’s home, located in a hard-to-reach rural area of Fortuna, officers found his body showing signs of violence.

Specialists from the Guardia Civil’s Judicial Police immediately took charge of the case. Forensic officers carried out a detailed technical inspection of the crime scene to gather evidence relating to the cause of death and the possible perpetrators.

Investigators established that, at the end of 2025, the victim had been assaulted during a violent robbery at his home. During that incident, he suffered injuries requiring medical treatment and had personal belongings stolen, including his wallet, documents and mobile phone.

Following the complaint, Guardia Civil officers identified and investigated a suspect in connection with that robbery. Months later, the alleged perpetrator received a court summons to give evidence as a person under investigation. That hearing took place on 22 April, one day before the victim disappeared.

According to the Guardia Civil, the investigation suggests that the suspect allegedly entered the victim’s home in retaliation for being implicated in the robbery case and struck him several times with a blunt object, causing his death.

Once sufficient evidence had been gathered, officers moved into the operational phase of the investigation. On Wednesday, 3 June, around 20 Guardia Civil officers, supported by dogs trained to detect biological remains, searched the suspect’s home.

During the search, investigators seized several items believed to be linked to the case, including clothing, mobile phones — among them the victim’s phone — and an electric scooter.

The operation ended with the arrest of the main suspect for alleged intentional homicide. His partner was also arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a robbery with violence and intimidation in connection with the earlier incident involving the same victim in December.

The Guardia Civil said the case was solved thanks to an extensive investigation and the cooperation of local residents.
