Valencian public broadcaster and Torrevieja City Council sign a collaboration agreement
TORREVIEJA, July 15, 2025 – The 71st edition of the International Habaneras and Polyphony Contest, one of the world’s most prestigious choral events in its genre, will once again place Torrevieja on the global stage. As part of a new partnership, À Punt, the Valencian public broadcaster, will promote the contest across its media platforms and will air the closing gala on Sunday, July 27 at 11:00 PM, in prime time (pre-recorded).
The collaboration agreement was officially signed today at Torrevieja City Hall by Mayor Eduardo Dolón and Vicente Ordaz, President of À Punt.
Ordaz emphasized the cultural significance of the event, stating:
“The Valencian Community resonates with music, and Torrevieja brings the voice of the habanera. We want viewers to experience the spectacular performances of this world-class choral competition, which defines us as a people. À Punt is proud to be the loudspeaker that shares this treasure with everyone.”
Mayor Dolón added:
“This agreement allows our city’s most important cultural symbol to reach a wider audience through the Valencian public broadcaster, bringing recognition to the most prestigious habaneras choir contest in the world.”
Recognized as an event of international tourist interest since 1994, the contest will run from Sunday, July 20 to Saturday, July 26. This year, 700 choristers from 17 choirs across Europe, America, and Asia will perform, once again highlighting the global prestige of the event.
