The iconic Eden Roc building, once a renowned brothel in the Vega Baja region, is set to undergo a transformation and reopen as a luxury hotel. The Torrevieja City Council has granted a building permit to a French company that plans to restore the historic establishment to its former glory.

Located in a prime beachfront location between the coves of Mojón and Zorra, the Eden Roc has been abandoned since 2013. The building has suffered significant deterioration over the years, including vandalism and neglect. In 2019, a French company, Environment Service Informatique, acquired the property with the intention of converting it into a high-end hotel.

The company has already begun renovation work, removing debris and securing the site. Their plan is to restore the Eden Roc to its original state as a luxury hotel, similar to its neighboring establishment, the Masa Internacional. The hotel will feature approximately thirty rooms and will include landscaped grounds and a swimming pool.

While the renovation project has faced some administrative challenges due to the building’s proximity to the coast, the City Council has granted the necessary permits. The Eden Roc is considered consolidated urban land, meaning it is not subject to demolition regulations.

The reopening of the Eden Roc aligns with the City Council’s efforts to expand the hotel facilities in Torrevieja. While the city promotes the preservation of its remaining undeveloped coastline, it also recognizes the economic benefits of tourism and the need for more hotel accommodation. The restoration of the Eden Roc is expected to contribute to the city’s tourism industry and provide a unique luxury experience for visitors.
