March 14, 2025 – The Guardia Civil has arrested a 46-year-old Spanish man as the suspected perpetrator of an arson attack.

The suspect set fire to a vehicle following an argument, causing the flames to spread and damage two other cars parked on the same street.

On February 26, the Guardia Civil in Torrevieja received several calls in the early hours of the morning reporting a dispute on a street in the town. When officers arrived at the scene, witnesses stated that one neighbour had argued with another over the condition of the latter’s vehicle.

The officers were also informed that, hours later, the suspect returned to the location and repeated his threats, warning he would set the car on fire.

At around 5:30 AM the following morning, the vehicle that had been the subject of the earlier argument was set on fire, causing the flames to spread to two other cars parked nearby.

Two of the vehicles were completely burned, and the third suffered significant damage. Firefighters eventually brought the blaze under control.

After the fire was extinguished, investigators began their inquiry to determine who was responsible. With the collection of evidence and analysis, the suspect was placed near the scene of the fire, confirming his involvement in the incident, which followed his earlier threats.

The 46-year-old suspect, who had no previous criminal record, was arrested and charged with arson causing damage. He appeared before the Court of Instruction No. 2 of Torrevieja, which ordered his release on bail.
