The problems at Torrevieja hospital are still seemingly not improving, after the reversion to public management around 18 months ago, as the citizen platform, Sanidad Excelente, reports that more doctors have left the Emergency Room facility, and “there are six fewer doctors and the Valencian Government, unable to retain them, has no replacements for them.”

The platform points out that, “less than two weeks before the regional elections, the government of socialist president Ximo Puig has allowed six doctors from the Torrevieja Hospital emergency room not only to leave, but the service is dismantled, given that to this day they do not have any relief planned that allows the emergencies of the Hospital for the residents of the municipalities of Formentera del Segura, Guardamar, Orihuela Costa, Pilar de la Horadada, Los Montesinos, San Miguel de Salinas, Rojales, San Fulgencio and Torrevieja to be completed in minimum conditions of dignity”.

The president of Sanidad Excelente, Mamen Mateo, has pointed out that: “It is shameful that the Valencian Government hides from the public that no more and no less than six emergency doctors from the Torrevieja Hospital are leaving without the immediate possibility of a replacement. It is humiliating that the Government of Compromis, PSOE, and Podemos in the Valencian Community despise the neighbours who live here, deceiving us by telling us every day, and now in the electoral campaign, that the reversal has been wonderful when public health has been blown up for sectarianism and incompetence in equal parts, the socialists and the communists. All this forces us to make a forceful but responsible assertion: Voting for Ximo Puig and the Botánico parties seriously harms our health”.
