On April 5, 32 Montgo golf society members vied for the Oliva Nova Cup. A medal competition is not everyone’s “cup of tea” but nevertheless it was won with a highly respectable nett 67 from a 21 handicap. The Course Manager, Rafael Velasco Pedrol presented the trophy to a smiling Susie Snelling, 2 ahead of Dennis Hammond (22) , whose 69 inched George Braddick’s nett 70 from 19hcp.
Both Nearest the Pins were collected by the same household. Franz Budnick shot to 4.97 metres on hole 16 while his wife, Susann, went even closer on the 3rd with a 1.46 effort. Susann put the next shot down and George Braddick’s also picked up a ” two” prize. Ted Hutton, Peter& Gill Williams and Hans & Susanne Duner were Society guests, the latter recording 76 to get into the awards ceremony.
Earlier in the week Simon Fox beat a ” walking wounded” Peter Gardiner 6 and 5 to progress towards the annual Singles Trophy,
