The Socialist Municipal Group in Orihuela, through Councillor Juan Miguel López, has denounced the lack of transparency and accountability in the “Km 0” programme, led by VOX Councillor Mari Carmen Portugal. The initiative, promoted as a support and information service for families, was declared a “success” in 2024, but the PSOE claims there is no technical documentation to support this claim.

According to López, the only evidence found in the programme’s file is over €1,700 worth of promotional materials—posters and media ads, some linked to outlets sympathetic to VOX. There are no reports, attendance data, or measurable outcomes. He accuses the Councillor of prioritising media exposure over real impact, stating the programme lacks transparency, evaluation, and effectiveness.

PSOE argues the initiative serves more as ideological propaganda than practical support for families and challenges Portugal to provide data proving any real benefit. They call for responsible, transparent governance, stressing that public funds must serve all citizens, not just advance partisan agendas.
