Orihuela’s deputy mayor and councillor for the Coast, Manuel Mestre (VOX), shared his reflections on 2024 together with his future plans for Orihuela Costa in an interview with Radio Orihuela Cadena SER on Wednesday.

Mestre expressed frustration over the administrative delays in addressing persistent issues such as street cleaning, garden maintenance, and road repairs, which continue to concern residents. However, he remains optimistic for the future, citing efforts like delegating the municipal company ILDO to manage the coast’s green areas.

Mestre emphasized that 2025 and 2026 will bring a major transformation to Orihuela Costa, with projects including promenade upgrades, urban furniture modernization, and the installation of a panoramic lift.

When questioned about legal proceedings against Mayor Pepe Vegara for alleged tax fraud, Mestre affirmed his belief in Vegara’s innocence and emphasised the coalition’s strong professional and personal relationship with the mayor, stating that any future decisions would depend on the court’s ruling.
