Torrevieja town hall is set to award the new macro-contract for the maintenance of green areas in Torrevieja, in yet another long-term contract, this time for 15 years, at a cost of around 114 million euro.
As is seemingly the norm for Torrevieja management, the previous contract expired in June 2022 after 10 years and another two years of extension. Until now, the invoices of both companies have been paid without a contract.
According to the State Contracting Portal, two companies have submitted bids for the tender: Actúa and OHL.
The first of them is the current service provider in a joint venture with companies in its group Hozono Global, amongst which are firms that have had the most contracts with the Council in recent years.
The Madrid-based construction company OHL, for its part, is participating in this tender in a joint venture with Explanaciones del Mediterráneo SL. The company was one of those that administratively challenged the award of the current waste collection contract to Acciona in 2022, and have now apparently become gardeners.
The governing team hopes that, if there are no setbacks, the new contractor will begin operating at the beginning of 2025.
