The Costa Blanca Tourism Board is in Norway this week, specifically to promote the area as an option for one of the most lucrative forms of tourism, the conference market.

The ANTOR Norway Regional Roadshow tours three most important cities in the country: Bergen, Trondheim and Oslo, offering participants the opportunity to showcase their services to buyers and suppliers from the conference tourism sector and the incentive industry in order to exchange opinions and business opportunities.

As the president of the Alicante Provincial Council and the Costa Blanca Provincial Tourism Board, Toni Pérez, announced, “during the fair, which our technicians have attended jointly with VisitBenidorm to project a broader vision of the province with respect to our offer, we will have the opportunity to meet with Norwegian companies from the MICE product sector”.

“This promotional action is very interesting for the Costa Blanca given the good air connections between the Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport and the Nordic country,” said the president. During the summer season (from May to October), 332,210 seats are planned, which represents an increase of 9.8% compared to the same period last year, as well as a total of 1,825 flights, a figure that, compared to the same period in 2023, represents an increase of 8.6%.

According to the most recent data, the province of Alicante receives an average of more than 500,000 visitors for professional reasons, of which 425,000 are national and 153,000 internationals. The majority of professional foreigners come from Germany, the United Kingdom and the Nordic countries and spend an average of 200 euro per day. Total business tourism consumption on the Costa Blanca is estimated at 285 million euro.

You might remember that during the last election campaign, the Sueña Torrevieja political group proposed the construction of a dedicated conference centre in Torrevieja, which could have allowed the town to tap into the lucrative tourism sector, rather than the bargain basement music events that the current government are obsessed with.
