The Local Action Group (GAL) ASIR will manage over €2 million in LEADER grants to support self-employment, business creation and improvement, and municipal investments in the rural areas of southern Alicante.
Key features of the new funding call include:
Up to €19,000 in grants for new self-employed individuals (autónomos).
Up to €100,000 in funding for creating or enhancing businesses, with up to 65% of the investment covered.
These grants apply to 13 rural territories across the regions of L’Alacantí, Medio and Alto Vinalopó, parts of Elche (Baix Vinalopó), and Vega Baja. Eligible projects include business creation, acquisition or improvement of buildings, equipment purchases (including software and websites), and consulting services.
The funding, part of the 2023–2027 LEADER program, is co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), the Valencian Government, and Spain’s Ministry of Agriculture.
The aim is to:
- Revitalize rural areas
- Create jobs
- Improve local services
- Prevent depopulation
There are also specific supports for agri-food businesses and succession in rural enterprises due to retirement or business closure.
GAL ASIR Director María Jesús Torres García emphasized the importance of this financial support for rural development, encouraging entrepreneurs to apply. Nearly 100 private projects benefited from the previous call, and this new opportunity is seen as a critical tool to attract investment and talent to rural areas.
