The salt flats of Torrevieja are ramping up their export efforts to meet increased demand for road de-icing salt across Europe. The new ‘Compañía Arrendataria de las Salinas de Torrevieja’ (NCAST), has announced plans to export over 250,000 tons of salt this winter, double the amount exported in the previous year.
The salt production campaign for 2023-2024 has been particularly successful, with favourable weather conditions leading to high-quality salt production. The salt flats have been able to store over 450,000 tons of salt, ensuring a steady supply for the upcoming winter season.
To meet the increased demand, NCAST has invested in upgrading its facilities, including the salt loading dock and the stacking area. These improvements have enhanced efficiency and working conditions, allowing for faster and more efficient salt exports.
