A Community Comes Together to Support the Fight Against Breast Cancer
On Saturday, October 19th, Pilar de la Horadada’s Department of Health organized a series of events to raise awareness about breast cancer. The event, held on Avenida Camilo José Cela, attracted a significant crowd.
Nieves Moreno, the Health Councillor, opened the event by emphasizing the importance of early detection. She encouraged women to incorporate self-examinations into their daily routines and to schedule regular medical check-ups.
The president of the Local Association of the Spanish Association Against Cancer delivered a powerful manifesto. She highlighted the need for continued research into breast cancer, which affected 35,312 women in Spain in 2023. She offered words of hope to those battling the disease, assuring them that they are not alone and that there are many others facing similar challenges. The Association also set up an information booth to provide resources and support.
A talented student from Rock Experience, Escuela de Música Moderna, concluded the event with two moving performances. To symbolize solidarity, the Town Hall’s façade was illuminated in pink, the iconic colour representing the fight against breast cancer. This event showcased Pilar de la Horadada’s commitment to raising awareness and supporting those affected by breast cancer.
