The Department of Culture in Elche, through the general directorate of Cultural Heritage, has issued a favourable report from the architectural and archaeological point of view of the actions included in the basic project of conservation, restoration and enhancement of the building intended for bar-restaurant use in the city´s municipal park.
The general director of Cultural Heritage, Pilar Tébar, has been in charge of signing the report that represents a decisive step in the comprehensive rehabilitation of the municipal park restaurant, closed to the public since 2018. The councillor of Municipal Strategy, Francisco Soler, has highlighted the work carried out in recent months to unblock this “emblematic” project, which required a series of administrative procedures to “move forward”, in the event of the implementation of the technical commission and the Palmeral Management Board.
Thus, he recalled that on December 21, the Management Board approved the landscape integration study, the necessary documentation to be able to send the licence to the Department of Culture, who has now issued that favourable report, before passing through the Management Board for the approval of the works execution project so that the Local Government Board then grants the works and activity licence.
Soler has pointed out that this action “is going to be a focus of attraction and is going to be very positive for the city. “It was nonsense in the situation in which this project found itself and in a few months we have managed to expedite the procedures that had been stopped since 2022.”
The objective is to convene the Palmeral Management Board in the coming weeks and at the end of March the Local Government Board grants the licence to start the works as soon as possible.
