The under-18 squad from the Steven Gerrard Women’s Academy will face the Ciudad de Orihuela Women’s Football Club this Wednesday, at the Los Arcos municipal stadium, kicking off at 6pm
Admission to the game is free, in what Orihuela hopes will be the start of a collaboration between the two clubs, who are currently on a post-season tour in the Valencian Community.
This friendly match has been organized by FutbolJobs, an employment platform that deals with the world of football, based in Orihuela, thanks to it’s good relationship with the Steven Gerrard Academy.
Valentín Botella, CEO and founder of the company, stated that “it is a source of pride to be able to bring a team from the Steven Gerrard Academy to the city, a leading football school in England to which one of the best English footballers in the world gives his name.
Botella also said that “a few months ago I had the honour of being at Anfield, Liverpool’s stadium, where I was able to visit the facilities and see how the academy works, and I was delighted with the methodology they apply in training young football players”.
The director of the school in Spain, Michael McDonough, thanked the Orihuela club and FutbolJobs for the opportunity to learn first-hand about Spanish women’s football, stating that “we are delighted to be in Orihuela to play this match”. .
The match will take place at 6:00 p.m., with free access and free admission, to which the president of the Club Féminas wanted to “invite the fans of Orihuela to come and support these young apprentices to the sport, and also enjoy a very interesting football afternoon”.
