Ninety-five thousand trees are to be planted after the felling of thousands of diseased pines in the forest of La Marina de Elche and Guardamar.
Removal of diseased and weakened trees has been undertaken as part of the environmental plan in this historic pine forest.
The century old forest was planted to prevent the sand from burying the Guardamarenco town centre.
The Consell are to re-plant 95,000 specimens of 33 species.
The historical pine forest of Guardamar and the dunes of La Marina de Elche has seen the removal of diseased pines from the North of the pine forest of Guardamar, Elche and up toward the southern part of Santa Pola, along a 1.3 kilometre stretch.
