The race for promotion – and fight against relegation – in the Valencia 1st Regional Group 8 continued apace with a flurry of goals on Saturday.
Racing San Miguel top the table going into Sunday’s game against CD Murada – but they are looking over their shoulders at the chasing pack.
Santa Pola, Torrellano, Murada, and Hondon Nieves are all on 39 points, tailing San Miguel on 46 points.
Hondon Nieves suffered a heavy 5-1 home defeat against Santa Pola to dampen their promotion chase credentials, with Santa Pola CF defeating Callosa Deportivo B 3-1 to boost their promotion hopes.
Betis Florida defeated CD Altet 2-0 to ease relegation worries, with CD Montesinos hitting five against San Fulgencio, in a 5-1 goal rout.
Montesinos switched their fixture to play at San Miguel stadium in the wake of having a new pitch installed at the Municipal stadium in Los Montesinos.
The victory brought relief to relegation fears amongst some supporters – after a woeful run of results – with Montesinos climbing to tenth place, in what remains tight at the bottom.
Montesinos’ goals from Daniel (2), Vazquinho, Morante and Alex, saw them jump four places in the table, with a game against Monforte CF away next up on February 17.
Sunday fixtures see CF Rafal host Monforte CF; CD Dolores host Monovar CD, and Atletico Catral host AC Torrellano.
