Santa Pola, October 16, 2025 – Chaos erupted in this quiet town when a 45-year-old man allegedly shot his own sister in the shoulder, prompting a swift response from the Guardia Civil. The shocking incident occurred on September 12, when emergency services received a call reporting gunshot injuries inside a local home.
Officers from the Guardia Civil and Santa Pola Police, alongside medical teams, rushed to the scene and found the woman wounded. She was immediately transported to Elche University Hospital for urgent treatment.
Investigators quickly identified her brother as the suspected shooter. With a prior criminal record and no gun license, he did not hesitate to escalate the drama—approaching his sister’s home and attempting to break through a police cordon. Despite initially defying orders, he was apprehended on the spot.
During the ensuing operation, dubbed “Operation Estratega,” police conducted searches of both the victim’s and the suspect’s homes. The raids uncovered a substantial cache of drugs and related paraphernalia: 600 grams of hashish, 25 grams of cocaine, 22 doses of MDMA, €1,600 in cash, precision scales, and a firearm holster. Authorities say this evidence ties the suspect to drug trafficking.
The man now faces multiple serious charges: gunshot injuries, illegal possession of weapons, disobedience, and offenses against public health. He has been sent to prison while the Guardia Civil continues hunting for the firearm used and investigating the motive behind the shocking attack.
Santa Pola residents remain stunned by the shocking family feud that turned violent, as authorities work to uncover the full story behind this shocking case.
