Following a record-breaking summer, Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport is preparing for a bumper winter, with more choice than ever this season.

Among the main routes that will be added to the Alicante airport’s offer, two of them have already confirmed the date for the start of flights. EasyJet will operate to Naples from October 29. A connection for leisure and culture lovers that will allow them to discover this city in the south of Italy, famous for its varied history, rich gastronomy and its proximity to attractions such as Pompeii or the Amalfi Coast.

Norwegian will launch its route to Riga, the capital of Latvia, on October 30. This Baltic city has gained popularity in recent years thanks to its art nouveau architecture, vibrant cultural life and medieval history, making it a fascinating and exotic option for those looking to discover the Baltic countries. A city that is also increasing its presence in Alicante through the airline Air Baltic.

In addition to the flight to Naples, EasyJet is also adding Birmingham and Southampton to its list of available destinations during the winter. The heart of England is a major industrial and cultural centre and is extending its Alicante route following its great success since its inauguration in March as a strategic connection. At the same time, Aer Lingus is launching several weekly flights to Dublin, providing direct access to the Irish capital in an excellent opportunity to enjoy its winter charm.

Another of the great attractions of the winter season is the connection with Stockholm Skavsta, operated by Norwegian. This airport, located south of the Swedish capital, will allow you to discover the capital of the Scandinavian country and enter the mesmerizing snowy landscape of northern Europe. A geographical area that can also be visited from Helsinki with a direct connection operated by Finnair to be inspired by a city famous for its design, its saunas and its impressive Arctic nature.

Although dates have not yet been confirmed, new routes connecting to Central and Eastern Europe are also planned. Ryanair will operate to destinations such as Katowice (Poland), Münster (Germany), Norwich (UK) and Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. All four destinations extend flights to Alicante after opening for the summer season in March and April in order to allow these less conventional places to be explored from a wintery and cold perspective.

This dynamic is also maintained by Jet2.com with Liverpool, with a great musical, sporting and industrial history, and Wizz Air joins in with flights to Rome Fiumicino, one of the most popular destinations in the world for its cultural and historical heritage. Meanwhile, travellers looking to discover the Balkans will also have the option of flying with Ryanair to Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, which is consolidating itself as one of the emerging tourist destinations in Europe par excellence.
