A 61-year-old woman died this Monday afternoon while bathing on a beach in Santiago de la Ribera, San Javier.

Several calls to the 112 Murcia Region Emergency Coordination Centre made at 19.42 hours warned of a woman who had been pulled out of the water. She was found next to the Santiago de la Ribera Nautical Club and was suffering cardiorespiratory arrest.

Onlookers immediately began to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, at the same time that medical personnel from the 061 Emergency and Health Urgent Care Department arrived at the scene with a Mobile Emergency Unit and an ambulance, in addition to the San Javier Local Police and Civil Guard.

Unfortunately the attempts to revive the woman were unsuccessful, and finally the UME doctor only certify the woman’s death.
