The start of the new school year in Orihuela and Torrevieja was marred by a significant shortage of school places, where over 900 local children were unable to begin or continue their education due to overcrowding in existing schools, and delays in the construction of new facilities.
On Friday the mayor and councillors of Orihuela met in the tiny hamlet of Media Legua, considered to be ‘ground zero’ of the DANA floods in September 2019, where they once again demanded the completion of important works by CHS and the Valencian Generalitat, to avoid a repeat of the flooding tragedies experienced 5 years ago.
