Elche’s Councillor for Sustainable Mobility, Esther Díez, this week stated that “we are going to submit a grant application to the Institut Valencià de Competitivitat Empresarial (IVACE) worth 524,736 euro, IVA included, with which to promote the use of public transport and alternatives in the Torrellano business park, as well as in the Altabix and Carrús industrial estates”.

The request will be submitted to the Governing Board and is made within the framework of the call published by IVACE, which calls for aid for investment projects for the improvement, modernisation and provision of infrastructure and services in industrial estates, industrial areas and enclaves.

In this sense, Esther Díez has indicated that “with regard to the Torrellano Business Park, a subsidy of 201,922 euro is requested to draw up the bike lane project that joins the current section of connection with the urban centre of Torrellano and the interior of the park, so that next year the expansion of the bike lane in a business environment of more than 12,000 workers can become a reality”.

“Furthermore, the objective is to install canopies at nine stops on lines 1A and 1B, as well as interurban line 90, arrival information panels, tactile pavement and improved signage to encourage bus travel to the park and improve the waiting for the users”, the councillor has highlighted.

Regarding the Altabix industrial estate, Díez pointed out that “aid worth 122,814 euro is requested for the drafting of the project and execution of the bike lane along calle Mallorca, an infrastructure that allows the cycling connection of this business environment and which is also part of the inner ring that in a few months we will begin to deploy from Pere Joan Perpinyà”.

The Councillor for Mobility has also explained that “in the Carrús industrial estate we are requesting 200,000 euro for the installation of six canopies at stops on line A, as well as the improvement of their accessibility, since all of them will have tactile flooring and also with panels of information with the arrival times of the buses”.

“In the strategy for promoting sustainable mobility in the city, industrial and business environments are a key element and that is why we want to take advantage of this call from the Department of Sustainable Economy to favour the change of modes of transport for workers, because we must remember that more than 80 percent of the polluting emissions of the city come from private traffic and reducing this percentage is synonymous with improving the health of the people of Elche and Ilciitana”, stated Esther Díez.
