Passenger car sales in Spain continued to rise in April, with 106,862 new cars registered during the month, an increase of 8.4% compared with April last year.
Despite the Easter holiday period, the combined results for March and April showed a stronger performance than the same period in 2025. The market was helped by continued growth in electrified vehicles, which now account for more than 21% of sales, as well as the sustained popularity of conventional hybrids.
April was the second consecutive month in which registrations exceeded 100,000 units. In the first four months of the year, total registrations reached 407,389, up 7.8% on the same period last year.
The Sandero topped the April ranking with 3,511 registrations, ahead of the Seat Ibiza, which took second place with 2,729 units. The Peugeot 2008 completed the podium with 2,594 registrations.
The Toyota Corolla finished fourth with 2,511 registrations, followed by the Peugeot 208 with 2,390. The MG ZS took sixth place with 2,348 registrations, while the Seat Arona ranked seventh with 2,251.
The Hyundai Tucson placed eighth after recording 2,003 registrations. The Toyota Yaris Cross followed in ninth with 1,725 units, while the Volkswagen T-Roc completed the top ten with 1,715 registrations.
In the electric car market, the Toyota C-HR, BYD Dolphin Surf and Kia EV3 were the three best-selling models in April.
BYD also performed strongly in the plug-in hybrid category, where the BYD Seal U and BYD Atto 2 led the ranking, followed by the Mercedes GLC Class.
Among non-plug-in hybrids, the Toyota Corolla was the best-selling model, ahead of the Peugeot 2008 and Toyota Yaris Cross.
