The works will see the installation of artificial grass on the urbanisation football pitch and a tennis court in the town centre
Councillor for Sports, Ana Maria Villena, has announced that the San Fulgencio Council will start of improvement works to of several sports facilities in the municipality, both in the urbanisation and in the town Centre, which will be funded by the Provincial Council of Alicante, with a total investment of 285,018 euros.
The work will see the installation of artificial turf on both the 8-a-side football pitch in the urbanisation area and on one of the tennis courts in the town centre, where the height of the perimeter fencing will also be increased to 2 metres, along with replacement of the existing posts and nets.
The funding will also allow the installation of a rugby goal on the football pitch.
Consideration has also been given to the creation of a training ground for cricket, “a very popular sport among the British population,” explained Samantha Hull, councillor for Works and Services from the urbanization area.
“We already have a player from San Fulgencio in the national team, so it will be useful when it comes to training,” she said. The pitch will be located next to the football pitch of the urbanisation sports centre, and will cover an area of around 60 square meters.
Mayor José Sampere, said that “we are carrying out theimprovement of these outdoor areas so that the residents can make use of them with all the possible comfort and safety”. He added that “the San Fulgencio Town Council will continue to work to improve the sports facilities in the town so that they can be enjoyed by the entire population”.
