Pilar de la Horadada was represented at the Annual Assembly of the Network of Cities and Territories for Cycling in Madrid by Chief Inspector Jesús Navarrete, Councillor for Citizen Safety Marina Sáez, and Councillor for Environment Pedro Miguel Moya. The event included both the assembly and a training session organized by the national cycling network.
The municipality is one of 153 members of the network, which spans 1,041 towns, and is among 84 municipalities implementing the “Biciregistro” system to deter bike theft and aid in recovering stolen bicycles.
Through the Mobility Department—coordinated by the Environment, Citizen Safety, and Tourism offices—Pilar de la Horadada promotes greater bicycle use in the municipality. Goals include improving traffic flow, reducing pollution, and encouraging healthy lifestyles. Officials explored innovations in cycling infrastructure, including bike parking, registration systems, bike lanes, urban cargo delivery, and overall urban mobility.
The municipality currently boasts 30 km of bike lanes and four cycling routes connecting the town center with beaches and coastal residential areas, making cycling both a practical and recreational option for residents and visitors alike.
