The Councillor for Social Welfare, Agustina Rodríguez, has praised the recent digital training sessions for migrants in the municipality, held on December 14 and March 16 at the “Carmen Conde” Civic Centre.
The 5-hour sessions covered three main modules: digital tools to improve employability, digital tools for online administrative tasks, and activities with Ticgo Migrants, aimed at identifying hate speech on social media and learning how to report hate crimes.
The training focused on skills like searching and filtering information, digital well-being, privacy, content creation, job searching, performing basic online procedures, balanced screen time, and detecting hate speech. It was tailored to the participants and taught by specialized trainers.
These sessions are part of an agreement between the Social Welfare Department and the Cibervoluntarios Foundation, within a program funded by the Spanish government and the European Union (Next Generation EU).
Participants came from Mali, Morocco, Algeria, Ghana, and Colombia. Upon completion, they received a certificate recognizing their digital skills in line with European standards.
Following the success of these sessions, the Social Welfare Department is considering offering future training for other groups, such as the elderly, the unemployed, and young people.
