British budget hotel chain Travelodge is undertaking a full renovation of its first hotel in Alicante, the former Hotel Campanile, which it acquired in April 2024.

Now rebranded as Travelodge Alicante Puerto, the hotel is located on Nadadora Carmen Soto Street near Avenida de Elche.

The 84-room hotel has temporarily closed to allow for a comprehensive refurbishment, aimed at improving guest experience and aligning with the brand’s standards. The renovations, which began early this year, are expected to be completed by May 2025.

Upgrades include modern furniture, new flooring, improved lighting, and updated TV equipment in all rooms, along with remodelled bathrooms for greater comfort and functionality. Common areas such as the reception, restaurant, and lounges are also being redesigned to reflect Travelodge’s contemporary style.

Additionally, technical systems like air conditioning and sanitation are being modernized to enhance energy efficiency and year-round comfort.

This renovation forms part of a broader project involving three other Travelodge properties in Spain: Málaga Airport, Murcia, and Madrid Alcalá de Henares.

At the same time, Travelodge is preparing to build a second hotel in Alicante, located at 28 Avenida Aguilera in the Benalúa neighbourhood.

The planned hotel will have 82 rooms (including double, family, and accessible rooms) and will feature Travelodge’s 85 Bar Café, offering a buffet breakfast and all-day food service. Travelodge has partnered with property owner Aguilera Orozco SL and will work with Abbi Retail as the developer.

Construction is expected to begin in summer 2025, pending permit approvals, with the hotel opening 1.5 to 2 years later.

These investments reflect Travelodge’s commitment to expanding and modernizing its presence in key Spanish cities, targeting both affordability and quality for travellers.
