Thaders dip in form continues with another frustrating loss

Calpe CF 1 CD Thader 0

Thader travelled to face Calpe CF in their latest Community League fixture on Sunday, eager to return to winning ways. The last time these two sides met back in October at Moi Gomez Stadium, Thader cruised to a comfortable 4-1 victory. However, with key players Pepe and veteran midfielder Javi missing from the lineup, replicating that success seemed a tall order—especially given that Thader had suffered back-to-back defeats in their most recent outings.

Sunday’s clash marked Thader’s third away fixture in just a week. Their league campaign took a hit with a heavy defeat at Carcaixent, followed by an agonizing midweek exit from the Nostra Copa. Despite holding Novelda Union to a goalless draw after 90 minutes, Raul Mora’s side fell short in the penalty shootout, losing 2-3 and bowing out of the competition.

Heading into Sunday evening’s match, Thader sat fifth in the table with 33 points, while Calpe were in 10th place, trailing by 12 points. A win was crucial for Thader to maintain their position and avoid slipping further down the standings after their recent run of poor form.

However, what unfolded was far from enthralling. The first half was a drab, lifeless affair, with neither team managing a single shot on target. Both were guilty of sloppy possession, struggling to inject any rhythm or intensity into the game.

Flair and creativity were in desperately short supply, making for a forgettable 45 minutes – perhaps one of the most uninspiring halves I have seen. As the halftime whistle blew, the inevitable scoreline read 0-0, leaving fans and players alike frustrated with the lack of any sort of action.

There was a reprieve for the fans, of sorts, during the second period with the loudest cheer of the game going to Thader’s Tremino for the first meaningful shot 8ìon 50 minutes. Unfortunately, his effort failed to trouble Adrian in the Calpe goal as it sailed over the bar.

Crishan should have opened the scoring for the home side just short of the hour mark, but he put the ball wide despite being faced with an open goal.

As Calpe began to pick up the pace wholesale substitutions saw Amin, Serghy and Raul enter the fray for the visitors. Unfortunately, it was not enough to stop the home side edging in front when Crishan made amends for his earlier miss by heading into an empty net on 65 minutes.

Whatever Raúl Mora said to his players at half-time had little effect Thader simply had no response. It was a lacklustre display in which the whole team struggled to string anything together, while the attack lacked creativity and urgency, failing to create any clear chances whatsoever.

Overall, it was a disjointed, uninspired performance that left fans disappointed, and possibly the closest I’ve ever got to experiencing purgatory.

Next week we hope for better as Thader are at home to Redovan. Information will be posted on the club Facebook page during the course of the week.
