Pilar de la Horadada is set to approve the transfer of land to enable a direct connection between the town’s two health centres. The proposal includes the creation of a closed walkway that will streamline patient distribution based on the service required.
This week, the plenary session will vote on transferring the necessary land to link the old and new health centres. With the governing team’s absolute majority in the Partido Popular (PP), the proposal is expected to pass. The land in question is Calle Murcia, which has been blocked off with large flowerpots since the new health centre opened to ease patient movement between the two buildings.
However, the local government believes a permanent physical connection is necessary. Currently, consultation rooms are split between the two centres, and emergency services alternate between buildings depending on the time of day, causing confusion among patients.
The municipal government has proposed to the Generalitat that both buildings be connected via an enclosed walkway, which could also function as a distribution hub directing patients to the appropriate facility. Despite this initiative, the project is not expected to move forward immediately, as no formal plans or budget allocations have been confirmed by Valencia.
The new health centre was completed in 2018, following an April contract award of €907,124.59 with an eight-month construction timeline. It officially opened in November 2019, at which point the municipality first requested a connection between the buildings—preferably funded by the regional health department rather than local resources.
