Mojácar has achieved a historic achievement on receiving, for the first time, the Q for Tourism Quality and S for Tourism Sustainability certifications for its Marina de la Torre Lance Nuevo and Venta del Bancal beaches. These prestigious distinctions were presented at an event held at the emblematic Cibeles Palace in Madrid, within the framework of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR 2025), with the presence of the Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism, who highlighted the commitment of the certified destinations to excellence and sustainability.
The Tourism Councillor, María Gracia Alarcón, together with the director of the Mojácar Tourist Office, Carmen García Campoy, collected the certificates on behalf of the municipality.
During the ceremony, the councillor highlighted the collective effort behind this achievement: “Receiving these two certifications for the first time, which endorse both the quality and sustainability of our beaches, is a recognition of the tireless work of our tourism team and the dedication of the whole of Mojácar. Thanks to their commitment, we continue to position ourselves as a benchmark tourist destination, which combines excellence and respect for the environment.”
Tourist Office director, Carmen García Campoy, also emphasized the importance of the joint effort: “This success is the result of a team which works with passion and dedication to offer the best to our visitors. These certifications not only recognise the quality and sustainability of our beaches, but also Mojácar’s commitment to responsible tourism and tourism of excellence.”
The Q for Tourism Quality, awarded by the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality (ICTES), guarantees the highest standards in services, cleanliness, accessibility and safety, while the S for Tourism Sustainability certifies the destination’s commitment to responsible tourism development, environmental protection and the promotion of sustainable practices.
Obtaining these certifications represents an added value that positions Mojácar as a tourist destination that combines quality, excellence and sustainability. As María Gracia Alarcón emphasized: “These certifications not only attract a more demanding and aware tourism, but also reinforce our commitment to preserving our environment, ensuring that Mojácar continues to be a unique place to enjoy and live.”
The Q for Tourism Quality, promoted by ICTES and the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, is the highest recognition that guarantees a quality experience in tourist destinations. Meanwhile, the S for Tourism Sustainability evaluates and certifies the environmental responsibility of destinations, promoting sustainability as a key axis for tourism development.
By obtaining both distinctions, Mojácar consolidates its position as a benchmark for quality and sustainable tourism in Andalucía, contributing to the prestige of its beaches and to the improvement of the experience of tourists who choose this destination.
