The President of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, warmly welcomed Their Majesties King Felipe and Queen Letizia to the Valencian Community stand at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR). During their visit, Mazón expressed gratitude for the Royal Family’s ongoing support for the region and its people.
In a symbolic gesture, Mazón presented the King and Queen with a set of handcrafted fans created by artisans from the Guild of Fan Makers in towns affected by recent floods. This gift was a tribute to their solidarity with the impacted communities and municipalities.
Prior to this meeting, Mazón attended the opening ceremony of the 45th edition of FITUR, presided over by Their Majesties. The event, held from January 22 to 26, 2024, at Madrid’s IFEMA exhibition centre, showcases the Valencian Community’s vibrant tourism sector under the slogan “Mediterranean Attitude.”
The Valencian Community’s impressive 2,600-square-meter stand highlights the seven key tourist brands: Castellón, València Turisme, Costa Blanca, València, Alicante, Elche, and Benidorm. It features dedicated areas for destinations, businesses, and tourism products, along with expanded workspaces and presentation rooms to support municipalities.
This year marks a record-breaking edition of FITUR for the Valencian Community, with 317 participating companies and entities—a 27% increase from the previous year. The region is also prominently featured in various specialized sections, including Fitur Screen (film tourism), Fitur LGBT+ (inclusive travel), and Fitur Sports (sports tourism), further showcasing its diverse offerings.
Through its presence at FITUR, the Valencian Community underscores its commitment to innovation and collaboration in tourism, solidifying its status as a Mediterranean destination of choice.
