– The improvements include a more modern design, as well as the introduction of self-service checkouts for customers.

– The refurbished shops will also play a part in the retail company’s efforts to raise funds for those affected by the floods in Valencia last month.

29 November 2024. – Primark has opened its refurbished shops in the Zenia Boulevard shopping centre in Orihuela and the L’Aljub shopping centre in Elche. These refurbishments are part of the retail company’s ongoing commitment to invest in the Spanish market and deliver a great in-store experience for its customers and employees.

The refurbished shops present a modern design to Primark customers, along with new fixtures and light boxes throughout the shop. Customers will be able to continue to enjoy Primark’s extensive range of fashion, beauty, leisure and homeware products, all with the company’s excellent value for money that customers love. Following the completion of the works, both shops now have self-checkouts, meaning customers will be able to choose between paying at checkouts manned by in-store staff or at self-checkouts.

Marks Wilson, Area Manager for Primark Orihuela and Elche, said: ‘We are delighted to welcome customers to our newly refurbished shops in Orihuela and Elche. Everything from the modern décor to the introduction of self-checkouts is designed to further enhance the in-store shopping experience. None of this would have been possible without the work of our team, who I would like to thank for their hard work and dedication.

Along with all Primark shops in Spain, the Orihuela and Elche stores will be taking part in Primark’s fundraiser for people affected by the DANA, which will run in shop outlets from now until January, with all money raised going to help those affected. This initiative supports Primark’s extensive partnership with the Red Cross and employees affected by the floods. In addition, Primark has worked and continues to work with a number of organisations in the affected areas.

In 2022, Primark reinforced its commitment to Spain by announcing a €100 million investment in the Spanish market. The investment includes €80 million in eight new shops, one shop extension and a €20 million investment in improvements and refurbishment of existing shops.  Seven of the eight new shops are already open, with Jaén Plaza to follow.

The Orihuela and Elche shop refurbishments are in addition to the €100 million investment, underlining Primark’s ongoing commitment to Spain.
