The Torrevieja amusement park, relocated to the Antonio Soria Park while the new port area is being constructed, will return to it’s original location by next summer.
The councillor, Federico Alarcón (PP), says that the return of the 80 attractions will take place after the refurbishment of the same space they occupied before being moved two years ago.
In high season the amusement fair adds up to around 80 recreational activities of all kinds. During these two long years the revenues of the fairground has significantly diminished as a result of being in the new location, because of the need to use private vehicles to visit the site on the outskirts of the city.
Alarcón explained that the will is that the fair be able to work in it’s original location next summer, although he did add that should there be any undue problems, the very tight deadlines could delay it’s execution.
The fair had to leave its traditional location because the construction of the underground parking lot for the new leisure area could have endangered the stability of the adjacent land where many of the attractions were located.
With this infrastructure completed, however, the provisional adjustment of the area for the fair will be mean a narrower occupancy space, because it has also been occupied in part by hippies market, although Alarcón also stated that in its original location, between the old surface parking lot and the promenade, it will be extended over about 10,000 square meters.
