On Thursday, March 7, the European Open begins, a sports dance competition organised by the European Dance Organisation in collaboration with the Elche City Council, through the Department of Sports.
The event brings together dancers from all over Europe to participate in different individual and pair modalities. On this occasion, more than 500 participants from 27 different countries with the evaluation of 50 judges will meet at the Toscar Sports Pavilion on the 7th from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on the 8th from 1:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and on March 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The Councillor for Sports, José Navarro, has highlighted “the opportunity that Elche has as a municipality to demonstrate that we are capable of hosting this event as many times as necessary.” On the other hand, the president of the European dance organisation, Nino Romano, has highlighted “the hallmarks of Spain such as the pasodoble along with the proximity of all the necessary services in Elche that motivated the choice of the city as its headquarters.”
Furthermore, the president of the dance teacher’s association, Luis Delgado, thanked the City Council for “the collaboration in the organisation of this type of event and all the entities that have made it possible for this European sports dance championship to be held in the city of Elche.” For her part, the president of the Dancing Elche sports dance club, Svitlana Karmaz, has reported that “there are few seats left for the three days of sports dance due to the high participation.”
