WILLIAM Buick is awaiting medical advice as to whether he can return to racing at Royal Ascot this month – in the wake of suffering post head-injury syndrome in May.
Buick, 30, underwent tests at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, after being dumped by Sir Busker going to post at Ascot.
Norwegian born Buick, who won the 2018 Derby on Masar, has remained under medics as he awaits the nod to return to race-riding.
Buick, retained Godolphin jockey in 2015, is the first jockey for leading trainer Charlie Appleby.
Buick has spent recent winters riding for Team Godolphin at Meydan racecourse, prior to returning to Britain for the Flat racing seasons.
Buick, who rode his first professional winner at Salisbury in 2006, was the joint champion apprentice in Great Britain in 2008, a stepping stone that has lead to him riding throughout the world, including rides in Dubai, Japan and America.
Buick’s problems lead to him missing the 2019 Derby Epsom meeting.
The Royal Ascot meeting gets underway on June 18.
