The distinctive new building, located opposite the Farmacia at the Aguamarina roundabout and next to the Delish Club restaurant, has attracted a lot of attention due to its unusual design.

After weeks of rumour, counter-rumour and plenty of local speculation, local resident Tomas Moreno has the answer to a question that many residents have been asking:

What is going into the building across from the Farmacia at the Aguamarina roundabout

The distinctive new building, located opposite the chemist’s at the Aguamarina roundabout and next to the Delish Club restaurant, has attracted a lot of attention due to its unusual design. With its modernist appearance, exposed concrete, curved bunker-like shape and limited windows, many locals have been wondering exactly what its purpose will be.

Now we know.

From next October, the building is expected to house a tobacconist’s, along with a shop selling Spanish National Lottery and State Betting tickets.

The existing tobacconist’s opposite, on Avenida de las Adelfas in Campoamor, currently operates only during the summer months. That premises is expected to close permanently once the new Aguamarina location opens.

Meanwhile, the tobacconist’s and State Lottery and Betting outlet currently located at Calle Lope de Vega, 3, Campoamor, will continue operating during the winter months only.

As for the building’s striking appearance, the project was designed by Blek Ingeniería y Arquitectura SL, who describe the design as being based around circular geometry, with forms of varying radii.

According to the project description, the building follows the natural slope of the site, allowing the architecture and landscape to interact more harmoniously. The design also incorporates natural cladding, warm textures and controlled reflections intended to highlight the building’s curved shape.

Information and further details of the design, including images of the planned interior, can be viewed here:
