Dénia and Els Poblets raids uncover cash, drugs, and luxury cars
Spanish authorities have struck a major blow against human trafficking in Alicante, rescuing 11 women and arresting seven suspects linked to a criminal network exploiting women for sex.
The shocking case came to light last November at Madrid-Barajas Airport, when police spotted a possible trafficking victim. Their investigation led straight to a criminal gang based in Dénia, which lured mostly Colombian women with promises of work—only to trap them in high-interest “loans” they had to repay through sexual exploitation.
In a dramatic operation, officers executed five raids in Dénia and Els Poblets, seizing:
- €50,000 in cash
- 100 grams of cocaine
- Three vehicles
- Electronic devices and detailed accounting books tracking victims’ debts
The arrested face a laundry list of serious charges, including human trafficking, drug offenses, labour violations, money laundering, and facilitating illegal immigration.
The operation was a joint effort by Guardia Civil and Policía Nacional, combining units from Madrid, Alicante, and Valencia. Police say the arrests send a strong message to traffickers and highlight the importance of cross-agency cooperation in protecting vulnerable women.
